joe satriani surfing with the alien

one of the best current modern rock and roll guitar players
this was his first cd which he financed with his credit card- this gives all of us some hope at being successful guitar players--check out his other cds---
why is he famous?

Not only has he given legendary guitarists like Kirk Hammett of Metallica and Charlie Hunter lessons in mastering the guitar, but he has also released many albums, the latest of which is Strange Beautiful Music.

quick bio

After picking up a guitar at the age of 14, the self-taught virtuoso Joe Satriani has since elevated fans and music lovers with his original and impressive style of play. Since the late 1980s, Satriani has left his mark on the rock industry and emerged as one of the most sought-after guitarists: having taught legions of guitarists, from Metallica's Kirk Hammett, to Counting Crows' David Bryson, as well as jazz fusionist Charlie Hunter.

He has not only been a prodigious teacher, but he has also let his craft do the wailing on extreme albums like Surfing With The Alien, Flying in a Blue Dream and The Extremist. Never one to rest on his laurels, "Satch" set on a new journey on his Grammy nominated Engines of Creation, an electronica offering that was markedly different from his rock staples.

The location of his critically-acclaimed DVD Live in San Francisco was fitting, given that he has played the National anthem at the Oakland A's season opener, as well as at many San Francisco Giants and 49ers games. Satriani recently released his eighth full-length album, Strange Beautiful Music, and after a listen, you will realize that Satriani is back at what he does best: put out soulful, blinding rock tunes that reshape the music landscape with every strum of the guitar.

The man that has toured with Mick Jagger, Deep Purple and launched the legendary G3 movement, showcasing talented players like Eric Johnson and Steve Vai, is stepping up to the plate again and the audience is eagerly listening...
