Captain Beefheart Tribute

Musician and Artist Don Van Vliet, who performed experimental and psychedelic  rock under the alias Captain Beefheart, has died at age 69 in a  California Hospital as a result of MS complications.

Trout Mask Replica is considered one of his most successful recordings. Don had a close association with Frank Zappa and they collaborated on various artistic ideas including music. Don was a man with a great many talents - poet, artist, musician among others. Don is a true genius and friend of nature, he will be very sadly missed. The White Stripes do a Captain Beef Heat cover of his song Ashtray Heart . Through Twitter and other social outlets Franz Ferdinand, Zola Jesus, and the Klaxons are paying tribute to Captain Beefheart, plus Billy Bragg and The Zutons also give Don Van Vliet a post.
